Srinagar : Two militants were on Wednesday evening killed and a civilian sustained injuries in an encounter between government forces and militants in North Kashmir’s Bomai Sopur village. The condition of the injured civilian is said to be stable.
Additional Director General of Police Vijay Kumar said that two Jaish-related militants were killed in Bomai Sopore and an investigation has been launched into their identity and organizational affiliation. Police and government forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation after receiving a tip-off that militants were hiding in Bomai Sopur area of North Kashmir, a police spokesperson said. .
He said that finding themselves surrounded by the security personnel, the militants tried hard to escape by firing indiscriminately, but the effective strategy of the security personnel did not give them any chance to escape and thus the parties Clash started between
According to the spokesman, two fighters were killed in the clash that continued for some time. He said that during the encounter, a local citizen identified as Ali Muhammad Ganai son of Abdulhad Ganai resident of Bomai was injured by bullet. He said that the civilian was shot in the leg and his condition is stable.
Meanwhile, Additional Director General of Police Vijay Kumar, while providing details regarding the encounter, said that security forces launched a search operation in Bomai area of Sopore on Wednesday evening after receiving a confirmed tip-off. He said “As soon as the security forces personnel reached the suspected location, the militants there started firing indiscriminately on the forces, so in the retaliatory action of the security personnel, two militants associated with Jaish were killed.”
He further said that an investigation has been started regarding the identity of the slain militants and their organizational affiliation.
According to him, a civilian was injured during the encounter, who was shifted to Srinagar for treatment, where his condition is slightly better. The operation was going on in the area till the last information was received.
