DC discusses action plan with stakeholder Deptts, Asks to rope in religious leaders, PRIs, civil society to conduct awareness

Kishtwar : District Administration Kishtwar is gearing up to intensify campaign against drug menace by roping in cross section of society under the aegis of NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyan.

In this regard, Deputy Commissioner, Dr. DevanshYadav discussed an action plan with the stakeholder departments for the effective implementation of control measures in the district here at a meeting here in his office Chamber.

Additional District Development Commissioner, Sham Lal; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Varunjeet Singh Charak; ACP, ZakirHussainWani; ACD, AtulDutt Sharma; DPO, Sunil Bhutyal; DSWO, Zubair Ahmed; Dy. SP HQ Ashish Gupta, CEO besides other concerned officers attended the meeting.

A threadbare discussion was held on the action plan and its execution in the district by pooling their resources and mechanism.

The CMO and DPO Kishtwar were asked to identify space for establishing Drug De-addiction centres at District Hospital Kishtwar so that the affected persons will be taken care of there.

The Social Welfare Department and Excise & Taxation Department were asked to coordinate with the Education Department for conducting a series of awareness activities like street plays /NukkadNatak,  seminars etc to educate the general masses, particularly the Youth and students.

Police and Excise Departments were directed to conduct an intensive drive for the identification and destruction of Hotspot of Naturally growing Cannabis and illegally cultivated opium in the districts.

Besides, the CMO Kishtwar was asked to inspect all medical suppliers and Chemist shops in coordination with the Police department and initiate strict action against those found selling intoxicants.

The DC enjoined upon the concerned departments and stakeholders to conduct the special gram Sabhas in Panchayats in the vicinity of District Headquarters for awareness regarding the drug abuse and NashaMukht Bharat Abhiyan.

The officers were asked to intensify the awareness and containment measures and stressed to rope in the religious leaders, prominent citizens, PRIs members for conducting awareness on mass mode basis.

He stressed to adopt comprehensive measures to disseminate awareness against drug abuse to make the society menace free.
