New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said that the Narendra Modi government, in line with its policy of zero tolerance towards militancy, has further strengthened the investigating agencies like NIA and Anti-Terrorism Acts in the country. He said that the National Investigation Agency will have branches in all states by May 2024. The Union Minister Amit Shah said while inaugurating NIA Centre in Atalnagar area of Nawa Raipur in Chhattisgarh. Speaking on the inauguration session of Raipur branch office building, he said that the Modi government has adopted a policy of zero tolerance against left-wing extremism, militancy and other related crimes including fake currency and narcotics.
“So we have left no stone unturned to strengthen the NIA. The BJP-led central government has also strengthened anti-terror laws, sharing information on militancy with state governments, regardless Irrespective of which party is ruling the state, anti-militancy investigations strengthened the agencies and increased the conviction rate in such crimes,” HM added.
On this occasion, Shah said according to this (policy), our government has worked towards strengthening NIA. Shah added, “I am happy that the conviction rate in cases handled by the NIA has increased from 75 percent in 2014 to 94 percent in 2022.”
The Union Minister said that since the BJP came to power, the government has tried to get rid Kashmir from militancy. Amit Shah during his speech said, “after the abrogation of Article 370, peace is being witnessed in Kashmir and today our agencies have been able to stop militant activities there.” He said that this was possible only because NIA in 2018, 2019 and 2020, NIA had taken strict action against those involved in militant funding. Shah Said, in last three years, a total of 105 cases of militant funding were registered and 876 persons were arrested and charge sheets were filed in 94 cases.
Amit Shah said,”the government is also committed to rooting out left-wing extremism. Now it is limited to only a few districts of the country.”
The HM said that earlier the influence of LWE was spread to 120 districts but now it has shrunk to only 46 districts. He added, “there are certain districts in Chhattisgarh which are still struggling with this menace but I am sure that the central and state governments will work together to end it.” On this occasion, BJP leader and former Chief Minister Raman Singh and NIA Director  Dinkar Gupta were also present in the event.
