Though introduction of digital payment systems and working of Automated Tellers Machines (ATMs) in banks are easing the process of business transactions in Jammu & Kashmir like several states and union territories of the country but unfortunately both the digital payment system and as well as ATMs of J&K Bank are often collapsing due to technical snags. The huge inconveniences people particularly those connected with trade, travel and business face in the wake of disruptions in the J&K Bank’s digital payment systems and working of ATMS are not addressed as quickly and promptly as they should have been. Since almost entire population of Jammu & Kashmir is maintaining both personal and business transactions only with the J&K Bank, the disruptions in the working of digital payment systems and ATMs consequently irk Jammu & Kashmir people the most.  Unfortunately the breakdowns in digital payment systems and ATMs are more intense in Jammu & Kashmir Bank than other banks operating in Jammu & Kashmir. A trend to shift the accounts from J&K Bank to other banks is increasing month after month and the trend if continues for one or two years would consequently bring under stress the financial health of the J&K Bank.  Though people are at liberty to shift their personal and business transactions from J&K Bank to other banks for their personal and as well as business conveniences but J&K Bank known for customer satisfaction across Jammu & Kashmir would further the causes of expanding it’s business operations only if takes immediate measures to improve the working of digital payment systems and ATMs not only in Jammu & Kashmir but across the country. Though many a times during last two years major public outrage against the suspension of digital payment applications like m-pay attracted huge criticism from people of all hues but still improvement in the working of J&K Bank’s digital payment system like the functionality of ATMs remains the core concern of the people across Jammu and Kashmir.

Since cash still remains the soul of trade & travel in Jammu & Kashmir the working of Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) is as deeper an issue of as is the working of digital payment system, the working of ATMs taking a big hit during last two years for unknown reasons also demands immediate attention and intervention of J&K Bank top brass. Complaints are galore that most of the J&K Bank ATMs cease to function all of sudden and are left unrepaired for weeks together both in Kashmir Valley as well as Jammu division. Be it the functionality of digital payments system or the working of ATMs the public grievances on both the counts remain unattended and unresolved.

Since the frequent disruptions in the working of the digital payments systems and working of ATMs are finally reducing the popularity of J&K Bank, measures to maintain the popularity of J&K Bank by improving the efficiency and efficacy of digital payment system and working of ATMs deserves immediate attention and intervention of the J&K Bank’s top brass.
