DC Jammu reviews Road Safety measures, discusses mining block proposals

Jammu :  Deputy Jammu AvnyLavasa, who is also Chairman Road Safety Committee, on Saturday convened the 9th meeting of the District Road Safety Committee to discuss the implementation of the traffic management plan in the district.

RTO Jammu Ghanshyam Singh apprised the Chair about the action taken report of 8th District Road Safety Committee, while a detailed discussion was  held on the road safety measures, identification of black spots, installation of crash barriers, organization of road safety awareness camps, medical camps etc.

Threadbare discussions were also held on modernization of traffic management system in city, creating awareness on road safety, removal of road side objects, stoppage of dumping of silt after cleaning of canals on road side.

The Deputy Commissioner said that road safety is the prevention and protection of road accidents by using all the road safety measures. She asked the concerned to coordinate in streamlining the traffic management to evade traffic congestion in the district.

The DC directed the concerned authorities to install proper signage boards in the accident prone areas.

She further directed the concerned to impart the importance of road safety among students and collaboration with schools and colleges is necessary where the students can be encouraged to volunteer as road safety ambassadors.

The Deputy Commissioner also instructed the concerned officials to ensure that vehicles engaged in transportation of school children must comply with traffic laws.  She also asked them to impose challans on the violators.

The DC also directed the concerned officer from the Motor Vehicle Department to organise special road safety awareness camps and generate necessary awareness among the masses.

Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner chaired a meeting of the “Single Window Clearance Committee” to discuss 32 proposed mining blocks at Tawi River, SardanNallah and JhajjarNallah.

The Department of Geology and Mining has proposed 32 minor minerals blocks in District Jammu for single Window Clearance.

DC Jammu fixed a deadline of one week for all departments to submit the NOCs for 32 proposed blocks.

After getting the NOCs from all Departments, the minor minerals blocks will be put to e- auctioning.
