Srinagar : Police on Thursday said the two militant associates of LeT militant outfits have been arrested in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district and huge cache of arms and ammunition have also been recovered from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters on Thursday police said that while acting on specific inputs about the movement of militants associates of LeT militant outfit in the jurisdiction of Police Station Pethkote, Police along with 26 Assam Rifles established a joint checkpoint near Lal Qilla Mode Pethkote and upon checking the joint party intercepted a Scorpio vehicle bearing registration number JK05H-0622 and arrested two militant associates of LeT militant outfit.
Stating that the said militant associates have been identified as Mohd Yousuf Wani R/O Pethkote Bandipora and Manzoor Ahmed Shah R/O Bagh Bandipora, Police in it’s above referred statement further said that during searches huge cache of arms and ammunition including 3 Pistols along with Magazines, 24 9mm Rounds, 5 Hand Grenades, Fake Police Identity Card, 1 Blanket and a fake Identity Card of Health Department and other daily use items were recovered from the said vehicle.
“While conducting preliminary investigation, it was revealed that the arrested duo was in close touch with some active militants of LeT militant outfit and the duo was tasked to revive the militant folds by motivating youth to join militant ranks and spread militancy in the district”, reads the above referred police statement , adding that “ the said militant associates were also tasked to provide logistic support to militants of LeT militant outfit but timely arrest of these militant associates has averted a major militant activity in the district.
In the concluding para of the above referred statement, Police also said that it has registered a case under relevant sections of law and further investigation is in progress.
