Kathua : Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rahul Pandey on Tuesday convened a meeting of concerned officers to review the schemes and works being executed by Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council in the district.
At the outset, the AEE JK Sports Council gave a brief account of the works undertaken by the council in the district. He apprised the Deputy Commissioner about the physical status of works including prestigious Arun Jaitley Memorial International Stadium, Hiranagar, Water Sports Complex Basohli etc.
The DC, while taking work wise review of the projects, impressed upon the JKSC authorities to speed up the tendering and allotment works to complete the work within the set timeline.
Highlighting the need to meet the quality standards while executing works, the DC called upon the concerned field functionaries to conduct site inspections on a regular basis.
He said the government has laid emphasis on creating massive sports infrastructure at grassroots level so as to nurture the sports talent.
The DC directed the DYSSO to plan sports activities for optimum utilization of the recently revamped and completed sports centres, besides offering recreational facilities and platform to exhibit sports talent.
