Mega Block Diwas held at Beerwah

DC assures dev of filtration plant, playfield, other facilities for area

Budgam| Aug, 17: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza on Wednesday chaired a daylong mega Block Diwas held at Panchayat Halqa Utligam in Block Beerwah of the district.
During the programme, various public representatives including Sarpanches and Panches from Utligam, Gandipora, Mulshula Bonhama, Sonpah and other adjoining villages raised their issues and demands with the DC for prompt redressal.
The demands raised by locals included drinking water facility, construction of filtration plant, macadamization of roads, development of link roads connecting various adjoining villages, better health care facilities, latest agriculture machinery availability, government building for the agriculture zone office, sheep and animal husbandry centres, horticulture zone, development of road up to Narwara under PMGSY, playfield and robust development of lanes and drains in these villages.
On the occasion, the DC said that a project of a new water filtration plant is in the pipeline and work on the same shall be taken up for execution soon to ensure safe potable water supply to the residents.
While listening to the local youth who demanded a playfield facility, the DC instructed concerned Tehsildar to conduct a special anti- encroachment drive on state land for the development of playfield.
He also stressed on the development of link roads and improvement in all other sectors including education and health facilities in the area.
The DC impressed upon speedy development of soakage and compost pits by all households.
He instructed concerned officers to organise a joint awareness camp by Sheep and Animal Husbandry, Agriculture, Horticulture and other allied departments on Saturday for awareness generation of their departmental schemes and initiatives among locals.
The DC also visited the Higher Secondary School Utligam where he interacted with staff and students.
On the occasion, DC emphasized on the demarcation of the school area, fencing of the school, water and electricity supply to the new building and macadamization of the road up to the school and additional lavatory block facility for students.
Among others, SDM Beerwah, CEO, Tehsildar, Ex. Engineers of various engineering wings, District Officers of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal and Sheep Husbandry and other concerned were present on the occasion.
Later, the DC accompanied by SDM Beerwah and Tehsildar also visited the Jamabandi Digitization Centre at GDC Beerwah to take on spot stock of progress of digitization of Jamabandis.
He took stock of the ongoing work process and stressed on speedy completion of digitization of records.
Meanwhile, DC also visited Hokersar wetland and took stock of dredging work.
He also inspected work progress of including face-lifting of lawns, eatery, washroom and other facilities within the wetland campus.
Wildlife Warden Wetlands Division Ifshan Deewan, Executive Engineer I&FC Narbal were also present on the occasion.
