Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav: Distt Admin Sgr organizes ‘Conclave of War Veterans’

DC Sgr felicitates 75 War Veterans/ex-servicemen/war widows

Srinagar : To acknowledge the services and contributions of War veterans and ex-Servicemen, prominent citizens who have rendered distinguished services in nation building activities, the District Administration Srinagar Saturday organized a Conclave and felicitation programme under AzadiKaAmritMahotsav here at Banquet Hall.
The felicitation programme was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad AijazAsad who awarded the Commendation Certificates to 75 War Veterans, Ex-servicemen, war widows to mark 75 years of independence.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said the event was aimed to praise and acknowledge the sacrifices of people who have taken part in 1962, 1971 and Kargil wars to defend boundaries of the country.
The DC praised the sacrifices of the martyrs and ex-servicemen who have displayed exemplary courage to protect the dignity of the nation and at the same time appreciated the indomitable courage and brevity of participants (war–widows).
At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner, who is also the president ZilaSainik Board, Srinagar asked the officer bearers of the Board to start preparations regarding publication of half yearly Magazine to showcase the stories of ex-servicemen for the inspiration of other people.
On the occasion, the DC also lauded the contribution of sportspersons who have played Nationals/Internationals and held Flag of the country high.
Earlier, DC held a one to one interaction with the participants who shared their experiences and memories during various battles they have fought.
During the programme, the participants extended their gratitude to the District Administration Srinagar for recognizing and appreciating their contribution for the first time.
Chief Planning Officer, Mohammad Yaseen Lone, Youth Services & Sports Officer, Balbir Singh, District Social Welfare Officer, DrMukhtar, and other concerned were also present on the occasion.
