Srinagar: In order to make its business smooth on ground and take final call for holding J&K Assembly Elections in November- December this year, the J&K Election Commission in its latest move on Tuesday issued the detailed guidelines for Jammu and Kashmir youth, who have attained the age of 18 years or about to attain this age on 1st January, 2023 and are still not enlisted in the voter list till now for the upcoming Assembly elections in J&K State.
According to a statement issued by the Commission here on Tuesday, the top poll body of the country has intensified its preparations by starting revision of voter-lists after the Delimitation Commission completed its exercise.
The Commission strongly recommended the including all citizens of Jammu and Kashmir who have been left out earlier or were not eligible to cast their votes during the elections either of age factor or of some other reasons.
In its latest guidelines for revision of voter-lists, the Commission has provided opportunity to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir, attaining 18 years of age on 01-10-2022 or earlier to become part of voters list in their respective districts. The Commission has introduced a new User-Friendly Forms for voter registration process and has devised single Form-8 for corrections in the entry while enlisting the new entrant in the voter-list.
To make the process easily and people friendly, the Commission has introduced a new feature by linking Voter-ID Card with Adhaar cards of the new entrants so that the exact details of every new entrant could be recorded correctly.
The Commission has further said that the Draft Roll for this process will be published on 15th September, 2022 and the claims or objections from any quarter/s will only be entertained between 15th September, 2022 to 25th October, 2022 and later on, the Final Rolls will be released on 25th November, 2022. It will be on record that the Commission is about to announced the probable dates for the J&K Assembly Elections and for this, it has started its business after receiving the nod from the Centre for going ahead in J&K for Assembly Election in November-
December, this year.
