6 Bovine smuggling attempts foiled, 81 rescued by Udhampur Police

Udhampur : Udhampur Police rescued 81 bovines from the clutches of smugglers while foiling six smuggling bids in Udhampur, Chenani and Tikri .
On the directions of SSP Udhampur Dr. Vinod Kumar and under the supervision of Additional SP Udhampur Anwaar Ul Haq and Dy.SP Hqrs, Sahil Mahajan, a Police party of PS Udhampur headed by Insp. Chaman Gorkha SHO PS Udhampur established a naka at Jakhani NHW for checking of vehicles.
During the naka Checking, Police party foiled three Bovine smuggling attempts and registered 03 cases under FIR no. 340/341/342 of 2022 under the relevant sections of law and rescued 48 bovines from the possession of 2 bovine smugglers Farooq Ahmed S/O Rehmat Ali R/O Rakh Barotian Samba and Mohammad Ashraf S/O Gh. Qadir R/O Samba.
Both the smugglers were arrested on the spot, while two more accused fled away from the spot by taking the advantage of darkness.
Another attempt of bovine smuggling was foiled by the Police Party of PS Chenani led by Insp. Om Parkash, SHO, under the supervision of SDPO Chenani Ahmed Shaafi.
The Police Party intercepted 2 trucks bearing registration no. JK02AR 8759 and JK03E 2502 driven by unknown drivers, both fled away from the spot by taking the advantage of heavy traffic on the road.
Upon checking , the vehicles were found loaded with 29 bovines which were being transported towards Kashmir valley without any valid permission of competent authority. In this regard 02 cases- FIR No. 138 & 139 of 2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Chenani and further investigation is underway.
While foiling another attempt, the Police Party of PP Tikri led by SHO PS Rehambal Insp. Rajesh Sharma and assisted by IC PP Tikri PSI Abdul Satar intercepted a Mahindra Bolero bearing registration No JK02CG 7516 and rescued 4 bovines from the vehicle.
The Driver of the vehicle identified as Prince Sharma S/O Naresh Kumar R/O Salehar Jammu was arrested.
In this connection, a case under relevant sections of law stands registered in PS Rehambal and further investigation is underway.
