GCW Udhampur organizes Symposium, Slogan writing competition to mark 80th anniversary of Quit India movement

Udhampur : To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the ‘Quit India Movement’, NCC units of Government College for Women Udhampur on Monday organized symposium and Slogan writing competition under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
NCC cadets of 1 J&K NCC Girls Battalion, Srinagar and 2 J&K NCC Girls Battalion, Jammu actively participated in the competitions. The activities were held on the theme of ‘Quit India Movement’ or ‘Bharat Chodo Andolan’.
In symposium, speakers highlighted the significance of the day and remembered the India’s independence struggle. They paid tributes to freedom fighters who laid their lives for the country.
In all ten cadets participated in the symposium. Neha Sharma bagged the first position, while Shivanika Sharma and Shilpa got 2nd and 3rd prize respectively. Piyush Sharma got Consolation prize.
Likewise, 10 cadets participated in slogan writing competition. Cadet Priya got first prize, Cadet Meenakshi and Cadet Rubeena Begum got 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively, while cadet Mansi Verma got Consolation prize in this category.
Principal of the college Prof (Dr.) Monika Sharma appreciated the cadets for participating in the competition with great enthusiasm. She exhorted them to actively participate in more such activities.
Dr. Seema Sharma HOD Music, Dr. Sushma Kumari HOD Dogri, Dr. Preeti Sharma from the department of English acted as judges in the event.
ANO, Lt (Dr) Kamal Deep Kaur and Prof. Shallu Jasrotia organized the entire event.
