Udhampur : Shikshit Bharat Club and department of History, in collaboration with Department of Geography Government College for Women Udhampur, on Monday organized poster making competition on the theme ‘Ambiance of fundamental rights and duties in Indian constitution’ under series of events being organized by Shikshit Bharat club on the College Campus.
Principal of the College, Prof. Dr. Monika Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion.
While addressing the participants, the chief guest said that the constitution ensures greater social and economic reforms and to serve as a guide to an independent Indian state it institutes laws and policies that help in reducing ignorance of the masses. She also added that the constitution serves as a set of rules and principles that all persons in a country can agree upon as the basis of the way in which they want the country to be governed and the relationship of the citizens with the governments.
Dr. Monika applauded the efforts of Shikshit Bharat Club and Department of Geography for organizing such events helpful in the promotion of secularism, communal harmony and responsibility among students in dispensing their duties as future citizens. She further appealed to the respective departments to organize such programmes in the near future for the students to understand the functioning between various organs of the government i.e., legislative, executive and judiciary.
The entire event was organized by HOD Geography Pooja Devi, who managed all requisitions in making the event successful.
Earlier, in his welcome address Nodal Officer Shikshit Bharat Club and convener Heritage club, Prof.Yash Paul [HOD History] highlighted the vision of Poster making competition, he urged the participants that constitution tell us what the fundamental nature of our society is and secondly every authority that has got the power to make these laws and rights are also binding upon them.
Around 25 volunteers’ students of the college participated in the programme. whereMehak Gupta, SanjanaBhagat, Nitika Sharma and Radhika secured first, second, third and consolation positions respectively. The competition was judged by Dr. Kewal Kumar [Botany], Dr. Usha Sharma [Sociology] and Yash Kumar [Music].
The entire Proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr. Mool Raj (HOD Urdu) who also presented the formal vote of thanks.
The other members who remained present on this occasion were Prof. Ashok Kumar [HOD Math], Arun Gupta [ Librarian], Dr. Meena Gupta (AP English)SanjeevUpadhyaya {HOD Sanskrit}, Rajinder Singh [HOD Punjabi] and Dr.Sanjay Kumar [A.P Music].
