5-day theatre workshop concludes at GCW Udhampur

Udhampur : A five-day Theatre Orientation Workshop organized by Department of Students Welfare University of Jammu in collaboration with Department of Music and Students Welfare Committee, Government College for Women (GCW) Udhampur, concluded here Saturday at GCW campus.
Principal GCW Udhampur, Dr. Monika Sharma was the chief Guest on the occasion.
While speaking on the occasion, the chief guest lauded the efforts of Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu and Department of Music GCW Udhampur for organizing such a wonderful workshop, which gave opportunity to the participants of affiliated colleges with university of Jammu.
She said that the participants have benefited a lot from this workshop and all the participants have learned different techniques of theatre, which must have instilled confidence in them. She urged the departments to organize more such programs in the near future as well.
In his address, Resource person of the Workshop, Sumeet Sharma said that Training Outreach programme an initiative by the Department of Students Welfare University of Jammu. He said that like this programme would kindle an interest for cultural, literary, fine-arts activities amongst the students which is also an important aspect for their holistic personality development. He said that participating in such performing arts workshop is a positive sign of the development of art and culture.
As many as 50 students from different colleges of district Udhampur affiliated with University of Jammu have participated in the workshop. The students who participated in the workshop from different colleges were GDC Ramnagar, GDC Chenani, GDC Neeli Nallah, Shivalik College of Education, GDC Udhampur, Kalra College of Education, Bhartiya College of Education and Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur respectively.
The workshop was coordinated by Assistant Professor Department of Music, Yash Kumar and Drama Instructor Students Welfare University of Jammu. The programme anchored by the students of GCW Udhampur Piyush Sharma and Radhika Sharma.
