DC Kishtwar chairs maiden meeting of DLC on NCORD; discusses remedial measure

Kishtwar : Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar, Ashok Sharma today chaired the maiden meeting of District level Committee (DLC) on Narcotics Coordination Centre (NCORD).
The District Level Committee has been mandated to effect better coordination among the law enforcement agencies and other stakeholder to keep a check on the illicit cultivation of Poppy and naturally growing Cannabis weeds, drug trafficking and related issues.
The DC asked the stakeholders to devise an effective mechanism to contain the drug menace in the district. He stressed on the need to adopt a multi-pronged strategy to curb the illicit cultivation of Poppy in the district.
The road map for constituting a District level Narcotics Coordination centre DLNCCs and a De-Addiction/ Rehabilitation Centre in the District was also discussed.
The ACR was asked to constitute the enforcement teams in Coordination with the other stakeholders to identify the spots and destroy the cultivated poppy and naturally grown Cannabis in the district by conducting special drives.
The DC laid a special thrust on the keeping special vigil on the unauthorised sale of synthetic opioids by chemists.
The CMO was asked to issue strict instructions to all chemists not to sell the synthetic opioids without prescriptions.
Regarding spreading awareness, the DSWO and DIO were asked to launch a massive anti- drug and campaign across the length and breadth of the district against the drug abuse and drug trafficking. and further instructed to rope in the school students,people from all walks of life and PRIs in these IEC activities.
Earlier, the DC also received feedback and valuable suggestions from the participants of the meeting.
The meeting was attended by ACR Kishtwar Varunjeet Singh Charak,DySP-DAR Zia-Ul-Haq, DSWO Kishtwar Zubair Ahmed; CMO Kishtwar Dr Chander Prakash;Tehsildar HQ,Chander Shekhar Sharma; DIO Kishtwar Amit Kumar,Food Safety Officer Kishtwar,Range officer Kishtwar,Range Officer Paddar, besides other stakeholders.
