DGP Dilbag lays foundation of works at CTC Lethpora, IRP 23rd Bn Hqrs, visits Pulwama, Ang

Srinagar : Director General J&K Police Dilbag Singh on Friday laid the foundation stone of construction works at Commando Training Centre (CTC), Indian Reserve Police (IRP) 23rd Battalion Headquarters at Lethpora in Awantipora district. He later visited Anantang and Pulwama districts of South Kashmir.
After laying the foundations at Lethpora, the DGP inspected various under construction works like Parade ground, administration blocks, hostel, quarter guards, hospital, USQ/LSQ blocks, conference hall, computer labs etc. He sought details as to what was being built and augmented for the trainees, staff and jawans. He directed for adaptation of drawings as per the needs and also suggested amends and changes for making CTC a centre of excellence. The DGP directed for finishing the construction and all allied work within stipulated times and also providing State of art facilities for training. He also directed for providing best residential facilities to the personnel. DGP was accompanied by ADGP Armed/IRP J&K SJM Geelani, ADGP (Hqrs), PHQ, M. K Sinha, ADGP Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar, DIG AP/IR Kashmir Shahid Mehraj, AIG Building PHQ Javid Iqbal Matoo, and AIG Communication Manoj Pandith. The DGP was received by CO IRP 23rd Bn. Atul Sharma, SSP Awantipora Mohd Yousuf, Principal CTC Lethpora Tanveer Jeelani, CO 185 CRPF Bn A K Bharti and Xen PCD Kamal Kishore. He was presented guard of honour at CTC Lethpora as well as at 23rd IRP Bn Hqrs.
The DGP also visited Anantnag where in his presence the first ever women police station for South Kashmir was inaugurated. The Police station was inaugurated by Principal Women Degree College Anantang Dr. Nuzhat and other women, representing different fields. After the inaugural function of the Women Police Station, the DGP while speaking to the media said that “The purpose behind opening the women police station across J&K is to provide a better environment to women,” adding that “Crime against women has been taken seriously and to bring down any type of crime against women, the Women Police Stations have been opened where the victims of crime will be conducted with by women officers/officials”. The DGP also said that opening up separate Women Police Stations will provide an opportunity to the women of the respective areas to come forward more freely to report crime as they would be able to express their grievances more comfortably. He added that women Police officers would be sensitive enough to understand the grievances of the female victims. He directed for making a separate recreational room inside the women police station for kids. The women, representing different fields like education, judiciary, local self governance and social workers were present on the occasion who were impressed upon to take a lead in bringing the issues/crime against the women of their respective areas into the notice of women police station so that necessary steps are taken to redress those issues. Women police stations have been opened at all range levels across Jammu and Kashmir, the DGP informed.
Referring to the hybrid militant structure, the DGP said “it is a move of Pakistan and its handlers to involve faceless elements in militancy to create trouble in J&K adding that counter strategy of J&K Police and other security forces is in place to fight this evil design with fortitude”. He further said that police has dealt with this new trend of terrorism with success and would continue to do so. The DGP also said that Pak agencies and their handlers are using social media in misleading the youth of JK and pushing them into militancy and added that J&K Police would continue to take stringent action against those involved, Stating therein furthermore that Thana Devas is aimed to address the issue of public on-spot and further strengthening the police-public relations. The function at Anantnag was attended by DIG SKR, Abdul Jabbar, SSP Anantnag Ashish Kumar Mishra, Chairman DDC Anantnag Mohammd Yousf Gorsai, Public representatives from Anantnag and the officers accompanying the DGP.
On his visit to Pulwama, the DGP visited 182 Bn CRPF headquarters where he chaired a J&K Police and CRPF officers meeting. On the very outset he expressed his solidarity with the officer colleagues and bereaved family of ASI Vinod Kumar of the Battalion who was martyred in a militant attack at Gangoo Crossing in Pulwama. While interacting with the officers, the DGP stressed upon the officers to continue their efforts to counter militancy. He stressed for strengthening communication within the forces at different levels to augment the security grids in their respective areas.. The DGP said that Police, Security Forces and people have to work together to defeat saboteurs and enemies of peace. He stressed on the importance of maintaining close synergy between the forces to meet the security challenges At Pulwama besides the officers accompanying the DGP, IGP CRPF, M.S Bhatia, DIG CRPF, P.K Mehra, SSP Pulwama, Ghulam Jeelani Wani, and CO 182 Bn, Deepak Dondiyal, CO 183 Bn R. D. Jeany and other jurisdictional officers attended the meeting.
