8 gamblers arrested in Srinagar, Stake Money seized: Police

Srinagar : Police in Srinagar on Tuesday said that it has arrested eight gamblers and also seized stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday police said that on receiving inputs about gambling activities, a police party of PS Khanyar raided a gambling site at Babademb and arrested four gamblers, stating therein further that officers seized stake money of ₹ 22,000/- and playing cards from the gamblers. Police in it’s statement however said that four more gamblers taking advantage of marshy land near the area managed to flee from the spot.
Stating that a case vide FIR No. 39/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Khanyar and investigation was initiated, Police in it’s statement further said that during the course of investigation, four gamblers who fled during the raid were arrested and stake money of ₹13,500 was recovered from them which they took along while fleeing, Stating therein further that with this, a total of ₹35,500 stake money was recovered in the instant case and 8 gamblers have been arrested.
Police in the concluding para of it’s statement warned that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighborhood with the local police units.
