Jammu Dev Authority launches seasonal plantation drive, targets 20,000 trees

Jammu :Jammu Development Authority (JDA) in coordination with J&K Urban Forestry on Tuesday launched Seasonal plantation drive-2022, starting from the newly developed Bahu Fort Park followed by JDA Park Trikuta Nagar.
More than 500 medicinal, herbal, ornamental plants of different species viz Bouganvillia, Sukhchain, Neem Amla, Arjun, Chinar, Gulmohar, Raat ki rani, Thevetia, Panchtara, China Rose etc. were planted.
According to a press statement issued here, the drive was kick started by Vice Chairman, JDA, Pankaj Magotra alongwith Sunil Singh, DFO, Urban, Forest Department.
The JDA employees and Forest Department actively participated in the drive.
Speaking on this occasion, the VC said that it is the moral duty of every citizen to plant a tree on the occasion of his birthday or his family members and pledge to nurture it for the rest of his life. “By planting trees we are not only protecting the environment but ensuring survival of our present and future generations on planet earth” he said.
The officers and officials of JDA were asked to gear up for carrying out plantation in the identified vacant spaces to make Jammu green and to accomplish the target of planting 20,000 trees set by the JDA.
The DFO Sunil Singh disclosed that Social Forestry in this year has targeted to surpass the record plantation achieved last year.
Prominent among others who were also present on this occasion were Sahil Jandyal, Secretary JDA, Vivek Modi, DLM JDA, Sanjeev Gupta, Superintending Engineer, Vinod Gupta, Executive Engineer, Gopal Sharma, AEE, Suresh Sharma, Range Officers, Rakesh Kumar, Block Officer, Vinod Kumar, JE besides citizens and morning walkers around Bahu Fort and devotees of Mata Bawe Wali from all walks of life. The participants also pledged to plant and save trees.
