DDC VC kick-starts cleanliness drive in Anganwadi Centers at B’pora

DM emphasizes on single use plastic-free society

Bandipora : To improve the health & hygiene among ICDS beneficiaries and to create awareness among common masses about cleanliness, hygiene and adverse effects of single use plastic, a special cleanliness drive was kick-started on Monday in all the 806 Anganwadi Centers of Bandipora district.
As per a press statement, the main function was jointly inaugurated by DDC Vice-Chairperson, Shafeeqa Begum and President Municipal Council Bandipora, Basharat Hussain and District Programme Officer Mohammad Ashraf Hakak at Anganwadi Center Nusoo Bandipora.
The function was attended by CDPOs, DDC Arin, councilors, PRIs, Anganwadi worker/helpers, children, senior citizens etc
The Vice President, PRIs, Anganwadi functionaries, CDPOs and common people on this occasion participated in cleanliness drives at various locations and Anganwadi centres.
An awareness rally was also taken on this occasion by the functionaries and beneficiaries of Anganwadi centres holding placards calling for cleanliness, conservation and safeguarding natural resources.
In his address, the District Programme officer ICDS Bandipora threw light on the importance of cleanliness and hygienic food. He said the source of all the diseases is poor hygiene.
Further, he informed the gathering that a day per week will be specifically dedicated for ensuring cleanliness of all AWCs. He also sought cooperation from DDCs, PRIs, Councilors in mobilizing their resources in and around the Anganwadi centres for making the drive a success and sustainable.
It was also given out that under the Anaemia Mukt Bharat campaign, special Anemia camps are being held in every AWC to curb and check prevalence of anemia in target groups (pregnant/nursing mothers) in collaboration with the health department.
DDC Vice Chairperson in her address appreciated the ICDS functionaries for efficiently and diligently rendering the services to the most vulnerable sections of the society. She also assured that special attention will be paid towards AWCs by equipping them with all the basic facilities.
A Separate rally by the Supervisors and enrolled children of Anganwadi centres of Bandipora project was taken out from the main venue up to Nishat Garden Bandipora to sensitize the people of the importance of cleanliness.
Similar functions were held in Gurez, Tulail, Hajin, Sumbal and other areas of the district.
