Srinagar : Chairman J&K Peoples’ Democratic Front (J&K PDF) has enjoined upon all the mainstream political parties to desist from exploiting the genuine pain and miseries of common people for satiating their petty vested interests, stating therein that people of Jammu and Kashmir are grappling with problems especially it’s lost identity , burgeoning unemployment and land rights.
In a statement issued her on Monday Hakeem said ” Since the process for much awaited elections in Jammu and Kashmir seems to have been set into motion , political parties should raise real issues confronting beleaguered people than promising things that were constitutionally impossible to achieve ,which later becomes the cause of betrayals as has been witnessed in the past .
Addressing a meeting of the political affairs committee of PDF here on Monday he said political parties and all the stakeholders shall have to rise above petty vested interests and focus on addressing real socio-political and developmental issues confronting the people to bring the life in Jammu and Kashmir back on rails . He said some political parties were exploiting expectations of the people by promising things like moon and stars to lure them for petty political gains that was constitutionally impossible . ” Instead , we should utilise our resources to meet the real socio-political aspirations of the people which was imperative for bringing peace , prosperity and development in Jammu and Kashmir , Hakeem maintained adding that our priority should be to seek restoration of constitutional guarantees with main focus on statehood , rights on land and employment . Saying that Art.370 was subjudice , Hakeem hoped that Supreme court would respect the urges and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir about its early restoration.
PDF Chairman said that his party do not believe in emotional exploitation of the people on religious , regional or cast basis for seeking vote but on performance in the service of the people on ground . He urged the PDF rank and file to expand its public outreach further , enhance people to people contact , try to highlight the basic problems of the people and try to redress their grievance . He said wholehearted and selfless service to the people was key to success in the field .
