Secy Sports Council Inspects National Coaching Camp at Polo Ground

Srinagar : The Secretary Sports Council, Nuzhat Gull on Monday visited Pencak Silat National Coaching Camp being held at Indoor Sports Hall Pologround here to take stock of the arrangements put in place for the participants including their boarding and lodging.
As per an official spokesman, the camp which started from Ist July and is scheduled to culminate on 22 July, is aimed at preparing the team for 19th World Pencak Silat Championship 2022 to be held at Melika Malaysia later this month.
Around 38 players from different states as well as paramilitary forces including SSB are taking part in the coaching camp.
The camp is being organised under the aegis of Malaysia Youth and Sports along with the National Olympic Committee of Malaysia.
While interacting with the players, Secretary J&K Sports Council apprised the participants about the role J&K Sports Council is playing to provide the best training and coaching facilities and how during the past few years the steps taken to lay requisite infrastructure has helped players take leaps in the national and international competitions.
She also appreciated the efforts made by the Pencak Silat Federation for the conduct of the said camp in Kashmir.
The world championship is cleared by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, and J&K Sports Council has also sponsored the J&K based athletes for the championship.
The athletes are training under the tutelage of battery of coaches including Mohammad Iqbal, Irfan Aziz Botta, Vinod Kumar (Haryana) and Rajesh Kumar (Delhi)
This is for the first time that the National team will be flagged-off from J&K.
The Sports Council was flanked by chief accounts officer j&k Sports Council Dr Zaffar Iqbal.
