Sem-4 Arts Wins Intra-college Knock-out Cricket Tournament at GDC Udhampur

Udhampur :Carrying forward the torch of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav, for Fit-India-Mission and Khelo-India, a Knock-out Cricket tournament concluded Saturday in the Government College Udhampur held under the guidance of the College Principal Dr Romesh Kumar Gupta.
The final match of the Knock-out tournament was played between the 6th Semester with Ashank (C), Akshit, Jatin, Akhil, Sachin, Akshit Saraswat (WK), Vikas, Raghav, Goutam, Ritik and Natish in the playing eleven and the 4th Semester Arts Sem-4 Arts with Kamran Naik (C) Ajmal Riaz, Munish, Varinder Kumar, Khatib Kanth, Sunny, Vikram, Arjun Singh, Rishav Kundal, Ranjeet in the team.
Batting first in the twelve overs match under captain Ashank, the Semester 6th team scored 83 runs with the highest knock made by Raghav (22 runs) followed by Ashank with 16 runs.
Chasing the target, the 4th semester team played brilliantly and downsized the 6th semester team with the batting marvel of Munish, who scored 44 runs with a hat trick of sixes. Everyone enjoyed his cracking strokes and class batting .The team won the match by four wickets with one over remaining and became the champions of the knock-out tournament.
The matches were organized by Anil Sharma PTI, Department of Sports of the College, under the supervision of Prof. Kamal Kishore and convener Sports Committee.
Speaking on the occasion the patron Prof. Romesh Kumar Gupta congratulated the winning and runner-up teams for their display of class, discipline and sportsmanship. He assured to organize more such cricket and sports events in the coming days. He also applauded the efforts of the organizers of the tournament.
In the prize distribution function, the runner-up team was felicitated with silver medals. The winning players were honoured with gold-medals and presented with the Champions Trophy.
Munish was declared the man of the Match, while Ashank was declared the Man of the Series.
For the final match, Abhishek was the umpire, whereas Azmal was the leg Umpire. Surinder acted as the scorer of the match.
Prof. Babu Lal Thakur, Prof. Romesh Atri, Dr. Pankaj Sharma, Dr. Ajay Sharma, Prof. Samosh Kumar, Kasim and a huge gathering of students also witnessed the Final Match.
Dr, Pankaj Sharma conducted the proceedings of the prize distribution and Prof. Kamal Kishore Presented the Vote of thanks.
