Central Team inspects water conservation works in different parts of Udhampur distt

Udhampur :A Central Team headed by Ambarish Narayan Barman, Director Ministry of Defence Government of India, Wednesday inspected the ongoing works under Jal Shakti Abhiyan 2022 in different parts of District Udhampur. The team is on a three day visit to the district.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner, UdhampurKrittikaJyotsna, Director Ministry of Defence GOI jointly chaired a meeting of the officers of the line departments to discuss the implementation of “Catch the Rain” initiative launched by the Government of India here at Mini Conference Hall DC Office Complex. They get feedback from the officers about the latest status of water harvesting activities and status of works under Jal Shakti Abhiyan scheme in the District.
Jal Shakti Incharge, UdhampurRakeshPadha gave a detailed PowerPoint presentation about the progress and role of different departments for effective implementation of Jal Shakti Abhiyan 2022 in the district. He informed that under Jal Shakti Abhiyan a series of sensitization and awareness programmes, NukkadNataks were conducted by the District Administration to generate awareness among the common masses about the importance of water conservation, with a focus on rain water harvesting techniques to meet the water requirement in the district.
The Central team also visited Ghantwal village where they inspected various ongoing works of IWMP.
Later, the Central team visited Mand, Tikri and SambalDanga and inspected water harvesting ponds executed by Rural Development Departments.
While inspecting the ongoing works, the Central team asked the executing agencies to gear up men and machinery and complete the projects within the stipulated time frame.
The Central Team also interacted with PRIs and listened to their issues and problems and assured that their genuine issues will be redressed with utmost priority. The team informed that the Prime Minister of India has given a clarion call to people to contribute their bit towards “Catch the Rain, where it falls, when it falls” under Jal Shakti Abhiyan on World Water Day.
The team urged upon the people to adopt Rain water harvesting through Roof Top Rain Water Harvesting, digging percolation pits, building check dams, diversion of road side drains to conserve rain water for subsequent use in different activities.
The Central team stressed on intensifying IEC activities for involvement of the general public in water conservation.
