DC Kathua inaugurates Sowing of Maiden Kharif crop across the fence at Hiranagar IB

Kathua :Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rahul Pandey along with Director Agriculture Jammu K.K Sharma accompanied by retinue of officials and farmers inaugurated Sowing of maiden Mash crop at Zero Line across the fence on Indo Pak International Border, in Hiranagar sector Friday.
Pertinently, District Administration under its resolve to bring the cultivation back on Zero line land chunk has fixed a target of 200 acres of landfall under Mash crop during the Kharif Season 2022.
On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rahul Pandey, said that administration will continue its support to the farmers of border area by roping in technical support of Agriculture Department besides security umbrella through B.S.F thus making the abandoned land across the fence under cultivation.
Director Agriculture, Jammu K.K. Sharma said that the happy faces of the farmers present on the occasion are testimony of the fact that farming community is quite happy with the efforts of the administration to restore cultivation in their abandoned land after a lull of 19 years. He assured that Agriculture department will lend all support viz seed, machinery, fertilizer, and other inputs along with logistic support to all the farmers of Border Area. A Special team of Officers with Subject Matter Specialist has been constituted which will look into all problems of the farmers, he added.
Commandant, B.S.F Atul Shah assured full support and security to farmers by working in close liaison with Kathua district administration. On the Occasion, Chief Agriculture Officer, Kathua SanjeevRai Gupta said that department of Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare, J&k in collaboration with District Administration Kathua has planned to include 200 acres of abandoned land for the first time during Kharif 2022 under Mash crop. He also assured that the department will ensure consistent incentives and subsidy support on seed, machinery and other inputs.
