Srinagar: Encounter has started in Awnera village of Shopian Saturday evening between government forces and militants.
The encounter started after government forces launched cordon and search operation in Awnera village which is 25 km from Shopian town on Shopian-Kulgam route.
When contacted SSP Shopian, said “operation against militants is on”. “We can’t speculate about the identity or number of militants trapped at the spot. Once the operation is over, we can give the details of the militants,” he said.
Earlier Saturday search operation launched by the government forces in Noorpora, Tral last evening ended without any face off between militants and forces.
Clashes had erupted in Noorpora on Friday evening during cordon and search operation.
