B’gam:Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Budgam and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued on Wednesday police said that a police party of Police Station Chadoora at a checkpoint established at Hussipora crossing intercepted two persons riding on a motorcycle bearing registration number JK04G-8113. Stating that when police party signaled the bikers to stop they tried to flee from the spot but were tactfully apprehended by alert police party, police in it’s above referred statement said that the said drug peddlers have been identified as identified as Asif Shafi Bhat son of Mohammad Shafi Bhat resident of Gund Maqsood Chadoora & Rayees Mushtaq Sofi son of Mushtaq Ahmad Sofi resident of ChrawaniChrar-i Sharif and upon checking officers recovered 4 grams of Heroin like substance wrapped in 22 polythene packets & 298 tablets of controlled drug Alprazolam from their possession following which they were shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating further that the Motorcycle used in the commission of crime has also been seized, Police in its statement further said that a case vide FIR No. 124/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Chadoora and further investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt strictly as per law.
