Srinagar: Light rain in parts of Kashmir has brought respite from scorching heat in the valley that continued for nearly a week with weatherman predicting more rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir.
Light to moderate rain in the plains of Kashmir in the wee hours onTuesday brought little bit of respite to people in Valley from the sweltering heat that swept Kashmir for about last seven days.
Meanwhile Meteorological Centre Srinagar, meanwhile, predicted more rainfall in Jammu & Kashmir and issued an advisory asking people to remain cautious and avoid venturing near places which are vulnerable to flash floods.
A MeT official said that light to moderate rain occurred at many places of J&K this morning and it was still raining lightly. “Intermittent light to moderate rain is likely to continue at many places of J&K during the next 24-36 hours,” he said.
He said that there’s already lot of water in local streams, rivers etc due to melting of glaciers and addition of rain water in these streams often trigger flash floods and mudslides.
The official advised the people to remain cautious and avoid venturing near such places which are vulnerable to flash flood etc
