Srinagar : Chairman Jammu & Kashmir People’s Democratic Front ( J&K PDF) Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen has expressed serious concern over halting of Fruit laden trucks along National Highway-44.He said stoppage of fruit laden trucks on National Highway causes decay of fresh fruits which have less shelf life ,thereby causing great monetary losses to the fruit growers and dealers .
In a statement issued on Saturday , Hakeem while expressing concern over stoppage of fruit laden trucks on National Highway has urged the government to ensure smooth movement of trucks from Kashmir to other terminal fruit markets of the country. He said annual Amarnath Yatra is an integral part of rich religious and social ethos of Kashmir which should not be made any excuse for causing un- necessary damage or burden to the fruit industry , on security reasons . He said every section of the society in kashmir has whole heartedly welcoming Amarnath Yatra , which has started successfully ,with great religious fervor , after remaining suspended for two’years due to Covid-19 outbreak . He has asked the government to allow the Amarnath Yatra to be a people friendly event ,as in past and not to impose any avoidable restrictions on this account , which may become the cause any financial losses for the traders and fruit growers . He said officers at the helm of affairs try to become more loyal than the king and thereby go one step ahead to impose un necessarily restrictions on the movement of fruit trucks , which has become a cause of concern . ” Government should chalkout a road map for smooth movement of fruit laden trucks along National Highway so that these are not halted unnecessarily and no harassment is caused to the drivers and truck owners., Hakeem urged .
” I urge LG Manoj Sinha to pass strict instructions for ensuring smooth passage of fruit-laden trucks on the national highway”. Hakeem said adding that the government was duty bound to protect interests of the traders and fruit growers also and to save them from financial losses , whatever the reason be . He said fruit industry has suffered clossal losses during past several years and now they might have to face more losses if movement of fresh fruit-laden trucks on the National Highway is not regulated immediately . He said every Kashmiri welcomes Amarnath Yatris wholeheartedly but they should not be made to suffer on this account.
