B’gam: Police on Friday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Budgam and also recovered contraband substances from his possession.
In a statement issued on Friday police said that a Police party of Police Station Beerwah at a checkpoint established at Utligam Beerwah Crossing signaled a motorcycle bearing registration number JK04G-0747 laden with two bags to stop but motorcyclist on noticing the Police party tried to flee from the spot and was tactfully apprehended tactfully by alert Police party.
Stating that the said accused been identified as Gulzar Ahmad Dar son of Ali Mohammad Dar resident of Ranipora Malpora Beerwah , police in it’s above referred statement further said that during checking officers recovered 30 Kgs of semi-grinded Poppy Straw from his possession. Motorcycle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Police in it’s statement further said that a case vide FIR No. 79/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Beerwah and investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt strictly as per law.
