Srinagar/Aug,12: A complete shutdown is being observed in Kashmir valley against a plea in the Supreme Court seeking abrogation of Article 35-A which confers special rights on J&K’s permanent residents.
The call for shutdown was issued by Joint Resistance Leadership against “assault” on state’s special status and “efforts” to abrogate Article 35-A.
In summer capital Srinagar, all shops and other business establishments are closed while traffic is off the roads.
Reports of shutdown were received from all districts of the valley.
Our correspondent in Baramulla Altaf Baba said there is an unprecedented shutdown in the district. “People here told me that they haven’t witnessed such shutdown in past thirty years,” Baba said.
