Jammu: Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) on Saturday organised a bicycle rally for media persons as a part of celebration of the 7th anniversary of Smart Cities Mission, launched by Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoUHA).
The rally was flagged off by Chief Executive Officer, Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL), Rahul Yadav
Scores of media persons including senior journalists participated in the bicycle rally. The rally started from Green Belt Park and after covering a distance of 2-3 kilometres culminated at the same point.
Speaking on the occasion, CEO, JSCL, and RahulYadav said that they are organising several events across the city as a part of celebrations to mark the 7th anniversary of Smart Cities Mission (SCM).
“The main objectives of these events are to connect with people, spreading awareness as well to get feedback from stakeholders about the initiatives taken by JSCL,” Rahul Yadav said.
He added that Public Bicycle Sharing (PBS) is an important project of JSCL and the feedback from the media fraternity will help to further improve the system.
He informed that the PBS allows users to rent out a bicycle from designated automatic docking stations and deposit it at another docking station located close to the destination.
“Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) has established more than 60 docking stations across the city and each one has 10 slots to park and lock bicycles,” he said.
Participant of the rally and journalist, Rajat Vohra said transformation of Jammu City was visible everywhere. “Vertical garden, Public Sharing System and Façade lighting of historical Bahu Fort have changed the aesthetic look of the city of temples,” he said.
Haling Public Bicycle Sharing (PBS) launched by JSCL, Rajat said that this will bring pollution levels down in the city and promote a healthy lifestyle.
Another journalist Surjit Singh said that this will motivate youth and others to stay healthy.
