Ramban: Directorate of School Education, in collaboration with the Directorate of AYUSH, Thursday launched the 2nd weeklong Iconic Yoga Session under the ‘Fit India Movement’- as a precursor to the 8th International Yoga Day to be celebrated on June 21.
The Inaugural programme was held in Government Model Higher Secondary School (GMHSS) Batote and inaugurated by the Chief Education Officer, DevAand.
The Weeklong Session has been launched to sensitise the participants about the importance of Yoga for leading a healthy and stress free life.
The Yoga session was conducted by Lecturer, Rajinder Kumar and District Coordinator, Fit India Movement, Pawan Kumar. Scores of students and teachers participated in the yoga session.
The CEO said that during the week-long programme seminars, paintings, debates, meditation and Yoga sessions will be held in schools across the district.
He congratulated Amit Singh, a student of 12th class of GMHSS Ramban who is among the 18 students of J&K selected to participate in the International Yoga Olympiad to be held in New Delhi from June 18 to June 20.
Dr. Masood Iqbal Zargar delivered a lecture on the importance of Yoga in stress Management. The Yoga Summer camps are being organized in 150 schools across Jammu Division, he added.
A similar programme was also held in the Government Model Higher Secondary School, Ramban.
