Srinagar: As part of the ongoing three day Sufi Festival, the department of Tourism organised Musical Evening here to celebrate the rich musical and Sufi heritage of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Musical Evening was attended by Chief Secretary, Dr.Arun Kumar Mehta; VC, KVIB, Dr.HinaShafi Bhat, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole; Secretary Tourism, SarmadHafeez, Director Tourism Kashmir, Dr. G.N. Itoo, senior officers of Divisional administration and Tourism Department and other allied departments besides a number of tourists and locals also attended the musical evening.
During the evening, renowned artists of Kashmir sang beautiful songs having mystic importance as well as depicting teachings of Sufis and Reshis of Kashmir.
During the day, a painting competition on the Sufi traditions was also held at Zabarwan Park here in which the participants through their paintings depicted rich Sufi heritage of J&K.
Pertinently, the three day Sufi Festival was inaugurated by Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev RaiBhatnagar yesterday here with an aim to highlight and propagate the teachings of Sufis and Rishis in Kashmir.
