Cycle Rally organised in Kishtwar to mark World Bicycle Day 2022

Kishtwar: Department of Youth Services & Sports Kishtwar Wednesday organized a cycle rally to mark the World Bicycle Day. The Rally was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Ashok Sharma from Mini Secretariat and culminated at TRC Kishtwar.
More than 60 cyclists including school students took part in the rally.
The flagging off event was attended by District Youth Services Sports officer KharatiLal, sports officers, officials, senior citizens and parents of the students.
The aim of this programme was to motivate people to use cycling for leading a healthy and physically fit life.
Addressing the gathering, the DC said cycling involves different physical activities and provides the best solution to get rid from obesity, stress, anxiety and other diseases.
Later, the Chief Guest awarded cyclists with medals and certificates.
In the under 14 year age group category, Mohammad Ibraheem bagged 1st position and 2nd position wentto ImadAbid both from Elite Public School Kishtwar, while the 3rd position wassecured by Mohammad Khayam from SDM public school.
Under 17 yr age group, the 1st position was bagged by JibranNabi, 2nd by Mahran& 3rd by Umar Farooq, all 3 cyclists represented Govt Boys HSS Kishtwar.
In the u/19 age group category, ShakeelAkther, Sameer Kumar &Akshay Kumar all from Govt Boys HHS Kishtwar bagged 1st, 2nd & 3rd positions, respectively.
Among the Girls, Sumedha Thakur from SDM School was the only contestant who reached the destination.
The cycle rally was organized as a part of the celebration of Azadika Amrit Mahotsav-India@75 & as a part of World Bicycle Day.
Anchor Javed Iqbal Sheikh thanked all participants and refreshment was provided to all participants.
