B’la|: Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla and Handwara and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued on Tuesday police said that in Baramulla, a Police party of PS Tangmarg under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg Hilal Khaliq at a checkpoint established at Drung Crossing intercepted a person identified as Tahir Bashir Khan son of Bashir Ahmad Khan resident of Check Ferozpora Tangmarg and upon checking recovered 109 grams of Charas from his possession following which he was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains custody.
Stating further that in Handwara, a police party of PS Handwara arrested a lady drug peddler and recovered 25 grams of Brown Sugar and cash amount of ₹1,04,300/-, believed to be proceed of drug sale, from her possession.
Police in its statement further said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective Police Stations and investigation have been initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt strictly as per law.
