World Environment Day has its origin in 1972, at the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment, held in Stockholm.
World Environment Day 2022: World Environment Day is celebrated on June 5 annually to highlight these dangers to our natural world and to urge people to protect it. The environment is our natural surroundings, including plant, animal and non-living objects across the land, water bodies and skies that support life on this planet. Beginning with the Industrial Revolution in the late 18th century, human actions have caused widespread environmental damage, such as global warming, pollution of air, water and land and biodiversity loss. World Environment Day is celebrated on June 5 annually to highlight these dangers to our natural world and to urge people to protect it. World Environment Day has its origin in 1972, at the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment, held in Stockholm. The conference began on June 5 and continued till June 16. The annual event, led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), was first observed on June 5, 1973, as noted on the UNEP website. Since 1987, the event is held in different countries on a rotational basis. This year, World Environment Day will take place in Sweden and marks the 50th anniversary of the UN conference in 1972, referred Stockholm+50.Research stated that lack of water, sanitation and hygiene results in the loss of 400,000 lives per year in India. Globally, 1.5 million children under five die and 200 million days of work are lost each year as a result of water-related diseases.Since 1972 we have been celebrating world environment day on the special date 5th of June. It’s the day we often forget about for that reason we can call it the most ignored celebration and why is it so? Well It’s because we are turning into ruthless creatures and obviously a burden on this planet day by day. The aim of celebrating World Environment day is not only to deliver speeches and attend various seminars but to spread awareness about the perilous threat to the environment due to the rising pollution and climatic change is the main aim of celebration. Threats to the environment means threats to biotic objects which includes Human beings. In 1972 it’s theme was “Only One Earth” by which we mean that this blue planet is the only planet where human lives exist and to safeguard it should be our first priority. ONLY One Earth Is being revived so for this year it’s campaign slogan will be the same as it was in 1972. Let me tell you how our environment is getting polluted .Behind its pollution we human beings play an important role. Unfortunately, crossing limits is our habit and even though we know that excessive use of everything is always hazardous, we still don’t think about it and we don’t use things accordingly at all. Cars were invented to produce the benefits but as it’s the invention of science we should know that it has a dark side as well. We purchased more c than enough cars and they spewed pollutants from their exhaust pipes which polluted the air that we inhaled. To produce electricity we burn coal and pollute the air. Domestic sewage, home and industries generated garbage which we usually throw into the rivers pollutes the rivers and land as well, instead of natural fertilizer we use chemicals which get mixed up with water and become a threat to life for wildlife. Deforestation is no more a crime but a good deed. Deforestation is a crime and a sin which not only affects the creatures of forest but it also helps in deteriorating the existing living things.
Filling up dustbins and emptying them by throwing trash into rivers is relatable to almost every family of India. Home generated garbage may contain plastics which are a noxious element, when stuff like plastic gets buried under land then the land at that place becomes barren with no capability of growing even grass on it. Plastic thrown into the rivers disturbs the water animals actually murders the water animals. The air coming out from industries brings deadly diseases to human beings and makes a man physically weak. There are seven types of pollution or environmental pollution and these are air pollution, water pollution, soil pollution, radioactive pollution, noise pollution etc these pollution are so common now a days. Research stated that lack of water, sanitation and hygiene results in the loss of 400,000 lives per year in India. Globally, 1.5 million children under five die and 200 million days of work are lost each year as a result of water-related diseases. And if we take a look at the analysis on air pollution as per a study based on 2016 data, at least 140 million people in India breathe air that is 10 times or more over the WHO safe limit and 13 of the world’s 20 cities with the highest annual levels of air pollution are in India. 51% of the pollution is caused by industrial pollution, 27 % by vehicles, 17% by crop burning and 5% by other sources. Air pollution contributes to the premature deaths of 2 million Indians every year. These are analysis of just two noxious pollution and cause such a massive rate of deaths in India. From my point of view we are leading the list of environment polluted nations hence we should hesitate in calling our country as Digital India and developing nation. It’s such an embarrassment. Now moving towards noise pollution, noise pollution needs no explanation. We love to hang out and chill while listening to music at a very high volume, whether it’s in a car, home or anything. We love to listen to music at full volume which not only disturbs others but creates a pollution called noise pollution. Allah (SWT) has commanded us not to listen to the music and Muslim should never ever indulge in such activities that are forbidden and lead us towards the he’ll fire. But unfortunately it’s the least discussed topic compared to air and water pollution, it’s ignored. Noise pollution causes following diseases, hearing impairment, stress, high blood pressure, sleep disturbance etc also affects wildlife as I mentioned that environment pollution is a threat to every living creature, one who grows has to deal with environment pollution. The insane thing is that all these threats to the environment have been created by human beings! YES, human beings are the most superior creation who are blessed with sound minds with sound bodies. Instead of being productive we are becoming burdens on earth. Despite of a huge damage I say that we still have time to correct everything, but we must keep one thing in mind and that is “Tempus Fugit” (Time Flies) so wake up o mankind think what we have lost and what we may lost in the future, save natural resources for the next generation.
Let’s plant more and more trees and limit the air pollution, let’s avoid plastic stuff and prevent water and soil pollution. We have got “Only One Earth” so let’s protect it and create a neat, clean, safe and secure environment. We will prevent Environmental pollution’s birth.
