DC Kupwara reviews issues related to widening of BKC road to NH-701

Officers directed to submit requisite papers within 2 days

Kupwara : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir Friday convened a meeting of concerned officers, here, to discuss issues related to widening of BKC road to NH-701 and acquisition of land for construction/ improvement of newly declared NH-701, Rafiabad -Kupwara-Chowkibal-Tangdar-Chamkote Road in 109 RCCX under 32 BRTF (P) Beacon.
The meeting held threadbare discussion and various decisions were taken on the spot.
The Officer Commanding 109 RCC and the consultants briefed the Deputy Commissioner about present status and issues hampering the start of work on National Highway road and By Passes to be constructed at Kupwara, Trehgam, Kralpora and Chowkibal.
The BRO and representatives of M/S Highway Engineering Consultancy raised some issues of compensation of forest land and pendency of some revenue papers.
The DC directed Executive Engineer, R&B Kupwara and Handwara to make the assessments of structures coming in the alignment within two days. Besides, the Chief Horticulture Officer Kupwara was also directed to make assessment of trees coming in the alignment. The Tehsildars were also directed to complete the pending revenue papers within 3 days without further delay.
The BRO authorities were directed to explore the probability of a flyover at Kralpora and Langate towns so that traffic movement in future remains smooth.
The BRO authorities were asked to ensure proper basic civic amenities like lighting, drainage etc on bypasses and other locations which are habited or commercial centres.
The BRO authorities were also asked to take steps for completion of bidding processes so that the work on the project commences from July 2022.
The Officer Commanding 109 RCC (GREF), Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) Kupwara, representative of M/S Highway Engineering Consultancy and other concerned attended the meeting.
