148 works completed under SPMRM in Khumriyal, Kupwara

DDC stresses for completion of on-going works under Convergence plan

Kupwara : The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir Friday convened a meeting of concerned officers here, to review the progress of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Rurban Mission (SPMRM) in Khumriyal cluster of Kupwara district.
The DDC took a detailed review of progress of all departments under each project and received present status and feedback from officers.
The meeting was informed that as many as 272 works costing Rs.6067 lakh have been approved under Rurban Mission which includes infrastructure building by the Rural Development department and employment generation programme by other departments.
It was given out in the meeting that out of these 272 works, 195 have been taken up; of which 148 have been completed physically so far with a cumulative expenditure of Rs.1021.42 lakh. It was also informed that 115 works have been geo-tagged so far.
Giving department wise details, the DDC was informed that the Rural Development department has taken up 143 works which include 35 under sanitation, 85 under access to village streets, 9 under Citizen Service centre and recreational activities. Out of these 143 works, 122 have been physically completed.
Likewise, under the Employment generation programme, 26 works have been completed by Handloom, Handicraft, ITI, Animal/Sheep husbandry, Education, Agriculture/Horticulture, PHE, PWD, PDD, Health, I&FC, Consumer Affairs and LBDDA.
Addressing the meeting, the DDC stressed upon the officers to take concerted efforts and work with added dedication for completion of all on-going works of the project as the Rurban Mission is one of the flagship programmes of the Prime Minister.
He said Khumriyal has a historical past and is the gateway of the famous Lolab valley, adding that the banks of Lolabnallah near Khumriyal need to be beautified for the attraction of visitors. He directed officers to ensure that Khumriyal looks like a town.
He asked ACD Kupwara to provide soakage/composite pits to every household in the area and ensure cleanliness and sanitation in the cluster. He also asked him to construct 5 solid waste segregation sheds under Convergence adding that the Central Government is liberal in providing funds. He directed concerned officers to provide their share of funds for completion of works.
The DDC stressed the need for maintaining record and data meticulously so that the higher ups could access the details of the financial and physical progress easily. He directed the RDD to handover the departmental buildings to the concerned departments and should be used for the purpose for which they were constructed.
The DDC asked all concerned departments to execute developmental works under the convergence plan.
Referring to the Handicraft especially Kani Shawl craft, he asked the concerned officer to register all pass out trainees with the department and facilitate them with proper financing and marketing. He said it is high time to restore the pristine glory of Kani Shawl as it is directly being linked with our heritage.
Referring to the Animal Husbandry department, the DDC was informed that 100 percent mass deworming and vaccination has been done to livestock. The DDC directed for verification of Animal Husbandry units by ADDC Kupwara in the area.
Referring to the Health department, the DDC was informed that a CTC analyser was installed while other necessary equipment including X-Ray shall be provided this year. The DDC asked CMO to take over the building of the Sub Centre.
Referring to the protection of water bodies, the DDC directed the concerned officers for proper mapping of all water bodies in the district so that a comprehensive plan for protection of these could be made.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, GhulamNabi Bhat; JD Planning, ACD, ACP, CMO, DIO, AD Planning, Executive Engineers, BDOs and other concerned officers and officials attended the meeting.
