Srinagar : The Court of City Munsif Srinagar imposed a fine of Rs.4400 on four shopkeepers for violating section 7 of Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products Act 2003.
These complaints were submitted before the competent court by Food Safety Officers of District Srinagar against violators for selling cigarette packs without having pictorial warnings on 85 percent of the principal display panel.
Shopkeepers are directed not to sell cigarettes within the radius of 100 yards of an educational institution, in loose form and to minors below the age of 18 years. Further they are directed not to sell any pack of cigarettes without having mandatory pictorial warning and other labelling requirements under Cigarette and other tobacco products Act 2003.
