Jammu : Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Ramesh Kumar Wednesday reviewed the progress of work on the road projects being executed by National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) in different districts of Jammu division.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Jammu AvnyLavasa; SSP Jammu, ChandanKohli; Executive Director, Sandeep Sudhira; General Manager Project Akhnoor, GM LA& coordination, Deputy Director Planning, Munish Dutta; Assistant Commissioner Central besides Chief Engineers of PWD, Irrigation and flood control, JPDCL, Jal Shakti and other concerned officers while Deputy Commissioner of Udhampur, Ramban Doda and Kishtwar attended the meeting through video conferencing.
While reviewing progress of Jammu- Akhnoor road, the executive director NHIDCL apprised the Div Com that work was in progress on package 2 and 3 of the project. “The package 2 comprises a 5.20 KM stretch from canal head to Ganesh Vihar with a 4.6 KM flyover. “Over 93 percent work has been completed and it will be thrown open for the public by July 15 this year,” he informed. He further informed that 53 percent work of 20.35 KM long package 3 is complete and the further work was on.
The Div Com also reviewed status of utility shifting and the concerned officers informed that the work on the same has almost been completed and only minor work of transformer shifting is pending and the same would be complete within a few days.
The Div Com directed the line departments to provide assistance to NHIDCL and ensure completion of utility shifting at the earliest.
Responding to some issues raised by the NHIDCL pertaining to the Jammu Akhnoor road project, the Div Com directed to expedite the progress on inspections, issuance of 3A of village Paloura and Muthi.
The Div Com also reviewed the status of other NHIDCL roads being executed in the district of Udhampur, Doda Kishtwar and Ramban. The progress of work on projects including Khellani – Khanabal (Pkg- I & II): Chenani – Sudhmahadev, Construction of Bi-directional tunnel at Km 83, Goha-Khellani Pkg-1, Goha-Khellani Pkg-2, Goha- Khellani Pkg-3 (Tunnel) was also thoroughly reviewed.
The Executive Director NHIDCL apprised about the current status of work on each road project besides future work plan. It was informed that the work was in progress on all the roads.
The Div Com asked the NHIDCL to expedite the pace of work and ensure the completion of the projects within the fixed timelines. He also instructed NHIDCL to depute nodal officers in each district to coordinate with district administrations for resolving issues, if any, which are hampering work progress.
The Div Com said that the government was committed to provide better quality roads to the public. He instructed the Deputy Commissioners to resolve issues of land, expedite disbursement of compensation and resolve all other issues for smooth execution of work on the road projects.
He also asked the DCs to personally monitor the progress of work in their respective districts and ensure that Road Safety Measures are taken by executing agencies like construction of retaining walls etc.
