Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested three gamblers in Srinagar and also seized stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued on Tuesday police said that acting on specific information about gambling activities at Rawatpora Baghat, a police party of PS Sadder raided the specific site and arrested three gamblers on the spot identified as Nazir Ahmad Parray son of Mohd Yousufparray resident of Rawatpora, Hakeem Mushtaq Ahmad son of Late Mohd Sadiq resident of Natipora and Manzoor Ahmad Chat son of Gh Nabi resident of Shah Faisal Colony Souraand seized stake money of ₹53,000/- and playing cards from the gamblers.
Police in its statement further said that a case vide FIR No. 50/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sadder and investigation set into motion.
In the concluding para of its statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding gambling activities in their neighbourhood and warned that people found indulging in gambling activities will be dealt as per law.
