Anantnag : The Block Diwas initiative of government was held Wednesday at Khiram in Bijbehara sub division of Anantnag where Nisar Ahmad Mir, DDC Member Dachnipora, ADC AnantnagGulzar Ahmad presided over the event.
Several delegations put forth their grievances regarding various issues including water supply, installation of electric poles, community development works among others.
The DDC member exhorted the officials present to address the grievances in a time bound manner. He emphasized the role of PRIs in highlighting genuine grievances and incorporating work demands in the development plans.
Speaking on the occasion, the ADC said that coordination among the PRIs and officials will be instrumental in reducing the grievances of the people. He appreciated the public for participating in the block diwas in large numbers and flagging-off their issues so that appropriate solutions can be worked out.
He further said that presence of several departments at one spot enhances inter departmental coordination and helps resolve grievances encompassing more than one department in a prompt manner.
SDM Bijbehara appealed to the public to participate in gram sabhas and take decisions for the overall welfare of the Gram and move away from parochial consideration.
Officials from several other departments including revenue, health, rural development, FCS&CA, Jal Shakti, R&B were also present on the occasion.
