DC inspects Govt institutions in border areas in Poonch

Officials asked to maintain punctuality; ensure smooth public service delivery

Poonch : As many as five Govt institutions were inspected by the Deputy Commissioner, InderJeet during a surprise visit to check the attendance and delivery of public services in border areas of Poonch.
Chief Horticulture Officer, SanjeevSharma, Chief Medical Officer, DrShamim Bhatti besides other officers/Officialswere accompanying the Deputy Commissioner.
The team inspected PHC Ajote, PHC Degwar, Horticulture Nursery, Govt Girls Middle School SohlaJugalDegwar and Middle School Degwar.
During his visit to the educational institutions, the Deputy Commissioner met with the students, Staff and enquired about their studies, Mid-Day Meal and other facilities being provided to them.
During the surprise visit to the PHC Ajote and PHC Degwar, he also interacted with people and directed health authorities to maintain cleanliness and provide efficient health services to people.
The Deputy Commissioner asked the employees to maintain punctuality in the offices and ensure effective delivery of services to the general public.
The Deputy Commissioner further asked the CMO, Poonch to take strict action against erring employees.
After the inspection of Horticulture Nursery in Village Ajote, the Deputy Commissioner told the Chief Horticulture Officer to make the Nursery Hi-Tech to achieve maximum plant production and supply the same to the farmers to increase their production of Apple, Peanut Walnut etc.
GDC Chenani celebrates birth anniversary of Gurudev RabindraNath Tagore
Udhampur : The Cultural & Literary Committee of Government Degree College, Chenani, under the auspices of NSS Unit Prayatna and AKAM, celebrated the Birth Anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore with great fervour and gaiety here Monday.
The Program began with garlanding of the portrait of the Nobel Laureate by the Principal of the College and a brief address by her.
At the outset, Anita Devi, Sem- I presented a captivating performance of Pujarini dance also known as Natir Puja, a Tale of Devotion and Sacrifice as Opposed to Jealousy and Tyranny composed by Rabindranath Tagore.
It is a dance drama developed around the idea of Buddhist philosophy that induces people to lead a simple life, to gain an understanding of the injustice and inequality prevailing in society, and to acquire knowledge and develop a deeper insight about the universe.
Parveen Akhter recited the verses from different poems composed by the Great Poet, followed by a recitation by Nishu Devi of Semester -I on ôdi Tor DakShune Keu Na AseTôbeEklaChôlo Re (“If no one responds to your call, then go your own way alone”), commonly known as EKLA CHÔLO RE, a Bengali patriotic song written by Rabindranath Tagore in 1905.
VikasKatoch of semester III read out the poem “Where the mind is without fear” a pre-independence poem in which the poet sincerely urges God to awaken his fellow beings for the realization that the essential need to live in a free and united country. He wants his countrymen to awake and enjoy the life of full dignity and honour.
Sakshi Sharma, Meenakshi Thakur, Mannat Kumar, Ambika and others performed a Skit entitled “Kabuliwala”. A tale of heart-rending friendship between a 5-year-old Bengali girl Minnie and an Afghan money lender, Abdur Rahman or Rahamat. The students beautifully enacted the bond of mutual affection and the unconventional relationship between the two.
VanshKatoch dressed up as Rabindranath Tagore shed light on his life and teachings.
The Principal of the College, Dr.Pragya Khanna appreciated the performances of the students and congratulated the staff and the organizers, Anita Kumari, Asst. Prof. in English &ShaguftaSaleem, and Lecturer in Geography for composing such an enthralling event. She emphasized that although a renowned Nobel Prize-winning poet Tagore prioritized poetry, he also made notable contributions to literature as a dramatist, novelist, short story writer, and writer of nonfictional prose, especially essays, criticism, philosophical treatises, journals, memoirs, and letters. In addition, he expressed himself as musician, painter, actor-producer-director, educator, patriot, and social reformer and continues to inspire millions till date.
The students were presented mementoes for their appreciable performances and were served refreshments. The Program ended with singing of the National Anthem.
