Pulwama : On the directions of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, BaseerUlHaqChoudhary, a team of Revenue and Excise department has launched a massive drive to destroy the poppy cultivation in the fields of Wuyan, Pampore.
Stating that they had launched a massive poppy destruction drive in Wuyan, Choudhary said that they had so far destroyed poppy crop at 13 Kanals of land at Wuyan in Pampore area of Pulwama district and the drive would further be extended to other areas of the district where illicit cultivation of narcotic crops such as poppy was done.
It was given out that the Poppy crop has been destroyed in Wuyan village and an FIR had also been lodged with the police authorities for taking suitable action against the landowners under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
