GDC Shopian conducts Qir’at competition

Shopian : The Debates & Seminars Committee of Govt. Degree College (GDC) Shopian Wednesday organized an intra-college Qir’at competition, here.
The Principal of the College, Prof. B. A. Dar was the Chief Guest for the event. Prof. B. A. Dar spoke on the utility of such programmes and impressed the students to take part in all the programmes conducted by the college and other higher educational institutions of the valley.
The Vice-Principal and Staff Secretary of the College, Prof. Tariq Hussain Mir advised the students to take part in competitive events regularly. He encouraged the student community to take part in co-curricular activities as they are a very important part of the academics of a college.
In the competition, BismaMaqbool from B.G 2nd Semester followed by Suhail Ahmad Bhat from B.G 2nd Semester and Azra Jan from 3rd Semester were adjudged 1st, 2nd and 3rd position holders respectively.
The first three position holders were honoured with mementos and certificates at the hands of Principal and other senior faculty members and rest of the student participants were awarded consolation prizes by the members of Debates & Seminar Committee.
The programme was attended by staff and students of the college.
