Block Diwas held at 3 locations in Anantnag

Anantnag : The weekly Block Diwas was Wednesday held at three locations in Anantnag viz. Achabal, Kokernag and Larnoo.
At Achabal, the Block Diwas was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Dr PiyushSingla. DDC Member Achabal, PRI members and various other officials were present on the occassion.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Singla said that block diwas has emerged as a platform not only for resolution of grievances but a unique platform for exchange of ideas on day to day issues between departments, PRIs and the people. He said that such exchange is important in understanding the problems of the people and designing appropriate solutions. He said that such discussions facilitate efficient convergence of various govt schemes and provide for optimal utilisation of public resources.
On the occasion, several farm mechanization machines were also distributed among various panchayats of the area. 7 tractors, 12 threshers and 8 motorized hand carts were given.
The DC inspected several works of the Rural Development Department. Anganwadi centre at Muhripora, Flood Protection Bubd at Akhingam and fencing of graveyard at Thajiwara were inspected by the DC. He directed the officials from Rural Development to expedite the estimation process for next year’s plan so that works can be completed within target time.
At Larnoo, ADDC Anantnag, Bashir Ahmad Wani listened to the grievances of the people. SDM Kokernag, TehsildarLarnoo, Sarpanches and Panches among others were present on the occassion.
Several delegations put forth their grievances regarding water supply issues, availability of X-Ray and MRI facilities and requirement of female health staff at PHC Larnoo.
ADDC emphasized on proper utilisation of development funds in line with demands of the people. He also directed that regular block development council meetings be conducted for resolving problems faced by people.
At Kokernag, the block diwas was held at Budget Accomodation and was chaired by ADC AnantnagGulzar Ahmad. The event was attended by DDC Member Sagam M Saleem, President MC Kokernag Prince Ahmad Sheikh, BDCs, CMO Anantnag, PRI members and other officials.
A Health Mela was organised by the Health department on the occassion. The department spread awareness about various schemes among the public. People were also urged to register for a golden card under PM SehatAyushman Bharat scheme to avail a family health cover of Rs 5 lacs per annum.
CMO Anantnag said that the health melas are being organised in various parts of the district to spread awareness about the schemes being run by the department. He said that melas are being used for screening of people for various diseases like diabetes and distribution of free medicines.
The ADC said that people should use the block diwaspaltform to register their grievances at one place. He said block diwas has reduced the need to visit public offices and people can meet the concerned officials under one roof. He said the health melas are a public service delivery initiative and people should take benefit of it.
