Rajouri|April, 26: Environmental Sciences, Centre for Biodiversity Studies, BGSB University, Rajouri celebrated World Intellectual Property Day. The theme of World Intellectual Property Day 2022 is IP and youth: innovating for a better future. Prof Akbar Masood, Vice Chancellor, BGSBU in his message emphasized that the World Intellectual Property Day, is held on April 26th every year since 1970 to raise awareness of the impact of how patents, copyright, trademarks and design affect our daily life. Prof Akbar further stressed that the role of intellectual property (IP) rights is used for encouraging, innovation and creativity in societies across the globe and the day finds the potential of the younger generation to get a better solution for the transition to a sustainable future. Dr. A. A. Shah, Associate Dean, School of Biosciences and Biotechnology while giving opening remarks expressed that the influence of intellectual property protection around the world should be expanded, and countries must encourage to publicise and popularise intellectual property protection laws and regulations so as to improve public legal awareness of intellectual property rights, and encourage invention-innovation activities. Dr. Shreekar Pant, Coordinator, CBS highlighted that this year theme of World Intellectual Property Day celebrates youth-led innovation and creativity, therefore, IP rights can support young people’s goals, helping them transform their ideas into reality, generate income, create jobs and make a positive impact on the world around them. On this occasion, Dr. Mamta Bhat, Assistant Professor delivered a talk on the theme and stressed that 26 April is observed to disseminate alertness about the role that intellectual property rights (patents, trademarks, industrial designs, copyright) play in encouraging innovation and creativity. At the end of the programme an anti plagiarism pledge was taken by the faculty, scholars and students of Environmental Sciences, CBS.
