Did we know that we’ve been celebrating Earth Day on April 22 since its founding in 1970?. Earth Day is widely recognized as the largest secular observance in the world, marked by more than a billion people every year as a day of action to change human behaviour and create global, national and local policy changes. The fight for a clean environment continues with increasing urgency, as the anniversary of Earth Day inspires both reflection on past accomplishments and planning for work ahead. As part of the day, several events are organized to demonstrate support for environmental protection. The evolution of this day dates back to April 22, 1970, when millions of people took to the streets in protest of the negative impacts of 150 years of industrial development. Earth Day focuses on major issues like global warming and a push for clean energy. Moreover, this day today has achieved the status of being the largest secular observance in the world, celebrated by more than a billion people and a day of action that changes human behavior to change policies. Earth Day Network is a driving force steering environmental awareness around the world. Through Earth Day Network, activists connect, interact, and impact their communities, and create positive change in local, national, and global policies the network claiming and the official theme for 2022 is invest in our planet. In the week of Earth Day, EARTHDAY.ORG and lead organizers, are organising three separate parallel climate action Events Celebration &,Interfaith Commemoration of the Earth day, Fight for our future Rally for climate, care, jobs, and justice and Youngo Earth Day Conference.(22 April 2022 to April 23rd 2022). Today, we have similar concerns, and unfortunately Increasing natural disasters, extreme weather, and rising global temperatures may seem impossible for one human, let alone millions or even billions of humans, to slow down, or stop. While CO2 emission come from a variety of natural sources, human -related emission are responsible for the increase that has occurred in the atmosphere since the industrial revolution . Brick kilns in India characterised by traditional modes of production low capital – intensity , seasonal employment patterns and lack of adequate regulations . While there are no offical estimates of brick production in the country, but unofficially there are over a lack brick kilns in india producing about 260 billion bricks annually and contributed to 7.7 % of the country GDP ( 10,64, 068crores) RBI Database on Indian Economy.
Brick kiln migrants hail from socially disadvantage backgrounds , brick kiln migrants are casual wage labourers and economicaly vulnerable and Brick kilns migrants predominantly rural. The environment crisis in india is many -sided and multi- faced which has to be addressed on the day. We need to harness scientific and social -scientific expertise to develop and promote eco-friendly technologies in construction , energy , water management , industrial production and transportation . Scientific innovation needs to be complemented by legislative change as well as by changes in social behaviour for all that we need a logical support from the world fronts working for the grave concerns especially from the Earth day network .Right to live is a human right of ours. And that is why pollution free air for breathing is one’s human right. The people of the world on the earth must have pure air to breathe. And it is the responsibility of the Government as well as common people to reduce the level of pollution . We need development but development must be with human interest.
