DDC Kathua reviews AmarnathYatra arrangements

Contingency plan formulated to accommodate 5000 pilgrims

Kathua : District Development Commissioner, Kathua Rahul Yadav Friday chaired a meeting of district officers and civil society members to discuss arrangements for smooth conduct of annual Yatra of AmarnathYatra- 2022.
The meeting discussed issues related to sanitation, supply of LPG cylinders to langar sites, readiness of fire tender and an effective contingency plan to accommodate Yatris in case of any eventuality.
It was informed in the meeting that the District administration has worked out a contingency plan to accommodate 5000 pilgrims in 34 identified locations comprising 18 Government buildings, 7 religious places and 9 other private buildings in case of any exigency.
The DC Kathua informed the meeting that Nodal Officers have been deputed to check the readiness of identified sites, while Duty Magistrates have been assigned the task to create lodgement centres/ langar sites for effective maintenance of the law and order situation.
It was also given out that the administration has already tendered the works of 105 toilets at different points for the convenience of the pilgrims.
The DDC stressed on making foolproof security arrangements and directed concerned officials to ensure mandatory installation of CCTVs at langar sites and other vital locations in the district, besides conduct round the clock patrolling.
The DC also directed CMO Kathua to deploy well equipped medical teams at langar sites with standby provision of medical teams for lodgement centres for the convenience of yatris.
XEN PHE, XEN PDD were directed to visit the langar sites and lodgement centres to make provision of power and drinking water supply.
Nodal officers were directed to ensure adequate provision of parking at langar sites to avoid traffic congestion.
Earlier, the DDC listened to the suggestions of social organizations and civil society members regarding required arrangements for the yatris.
ADDC KathuaPuneet Sharma; ADC Atul Gupta; ASP Kathua Suresh Kumar; ACR Sandeep Seointra; ACD Kishore Singh Katoch; ACP SohanLal and other concerned officers were also present.
GDC Udhampur holds plantation drive to celebrate Earth Day
Udhampur : The Environment Committee of Government Degree College Udhampur, in collaboration with IQAC Friday conducted a plantation drive on the College Campus and hosted an online poster competition to celebrate the Earth Day. The College Principal Prof SubhashChander and faculty members also participated in the event.
The staff and students planted saplings of different trees such as Lemon, Amla, Ashoka, Juniperus, Neem, Saru around the Campus building.
The College Principal praised the Convener and the members of the environment committee for organising a plantation push and an online poster competition for students on the theme “Lets Save Our Earth.” He underscored the importance of the day and emphasised on the scientific conservation of natural resources for future generations. “Considering challenges such as global warming, depletion of natural resources, and population growth, it is the responsibility of each individual to make every effort possible to make this world a desirable place to live” he said.

Verma, Prof.Naresh Sharma, Prof.Samta Sharma, Dr.Archana Gupta, Prof.ImitiazShahid, Prof.ReenaBhagat, Prof.SunitaKumari, Prof.Jawaid Sarver, Prof.SaritaParihar, Dr.Satish Kumar, Prof.Shajji Khan, Dr. Bandana Mazal, Prof. Sonia Raj, Dr.Swarn Singh, Dr.Ranjan, Dr.Zahoor and Shilpa were part of the event.
