Lal Singh hands over orders to youth appointed as Rehbar-e-Janglat

Jammu: Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment, Choudhary Lal Singh Friday handover 202 appointment orders to forestry graduates, post graduates and DDR trained youth designated as Rehbar-e-Janglat, here at a function.

Chief Wildlife Warden, Manoj Panth, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Roshan Jaggi, Director SFRI B M Sharma, Director Social Forestry, A K Gupta, Chief Conservator of Forests, Farooq Gillani, Director Forest Protection Force, Asif Sagar, Managing Director SFC, Suresh Gupta, Conservator West Circle Qamar-ud-Din, Conservator Chenab circle T B Singh besides Divisional Forest Officers of Urban, Wildlife and Territorial were present on the occasion.

After distributing the orders, Choudhary Lal Singh informed that Government, under Cabinet decision No. 96/6/2017 dated:16-06-2017, has approved 534 posts of Rehbar-e-Janglat to engage unemployed forestry graduates, post graduates and DDR trained youth of the State.  He said further appointments would be made in due course of time.

The Minister said Government was making all out efforts to fill all the vacant posts in Forest and its allied wings and the vacancies are being referred to Public Service Commission and Service Selection Board for recruitment.

Meanwhile, Choudhary Lal Singh directed the Divisional Forest Officers of Social Forestry to gear up men and machinery for planting   saplings on roadside strips, forests, schools, colleges, railway stations and Government offices. He said aim of the Government was to cover every open and degraded area. He said forest guards are the saviors of green gold, adding that, the workforce on ground would help in giving better services to the State.

The Minister said the Government is mulling a comprehensive forest policy to ensure preservation of state’s green gold besides checking deforestation and environmental degradation.

Choudhary Lal Singh directed the Divisional Forest Officers to pay regular field visits in their respective jurisdictions and personally monitor ongoing plantation drive which would continue throughout the current rainy season.
